All the basics of silk ribbon embroidery with innovative techniques and 20 contemporary designs. Beginners and experts stitchers alike will learn to create beautiful embroideries inspired by the seasons, from luxuriant flowers to whimsical owls

Silk ribbon embroidery enthusiasts all over the world have been discovering the work of renowned Ukrainian embroiderer, Tatiana Popova. Here she teaches all the basic techniques and provides a thorough traditional stitch dictionary with clear instructions and images, giving embroiderers – even beginners to silk ribbon – the perfect grounding. Tatiana then shares her own innovative techniques for achieving easier, quicker and more efficient stitching.

There are excellent sections on using colour and on applying paint to silk ribbons after stitching. Twenty beautiful projects then follow: traditional favourites such as roses, along with a wealth of contemporary designs for embroiderers of all skill levels. The distinct colour palettes of the seasons have inspired Tatiana’s luxuriant embroideries, and as well as a host of flowers, there are delightful whimsical designs such as owls. Ten of the designs feature full-size images to scan and print on fabric before embroidering.Mary Corbet, Needlenthread.com

If you’re a lover of really lush, rich silk ribbon embroidery, you will enjoy this book and learn a lot from it! The projects range from charming to gorgeous, from small to large, and everything in between. There’s something for every silk ribbon embroidery fan within its pages!Tatiana Popova is a Ukrainian embroiderer who specialises in silk ribbon work, creating pieces that emanate elegance with their classic designs, luscious colour and artfully realistic flowers. She learnt to stitch at an early age, inspired by her mother and grandmother’s embroidery, and for a time pursued her passion for stitching by studying a huge variety of embroidery styles and techniques, both at school and in her own time. Despite her love for embroidery, Tatiana studied to become a florist designer initially. However, soon after graduating from university, she discovered the world of silk ribbon embroidery. It triggered the beginnings of her own own business, Little Owl Smart Crafts Company, producing kits for silk ribbon and crewel embroidery – thus allowing her to create flower bouquets that never fade. Today, Tatiana participates in a number of craft shows all around the world, including the UK, US and Japan, and annually teaches at the Bead&Button Show.
