As the popularity of quilling has surged in recent years, the sold out (previous) edition will be published once again with a new title, Quilled Animals, and cover image (previously it featured an alpaca). Experienced quillers in search of fresh ideas will find an adorable menagerie of paper patterns within the 48 pages. Each design includes fun details and Diane’s completed projects are examples of perfect quilling.  She shows how to add dimension by layering elements, with Miss Hippo’s flower, eye, and skirt, and the wings, head, legs, and curly tail of the super-cute flying pigs. Two of Diane Boden’s previous titles are Beautiful Quilling Step-by Step and Miniature Quilling. Her quilled chocolates have proven to be extremely popular in the quilling world… wouldn’t you be tempted to pop one in your mouth? They’re incredibly realistic!

Library Journal 2015 of previous edition
Quilling is a paper craft in which long strips of paper are coiled, then arranged into decorative shapes—in this case, animals. Master quiller Boden (Miniature Quilling) provides a brief introduction to quilling technique, followed by 20 cleverly designed quilled animals, suitable for use on greeting cards or other decorative objects. Some animals lend themselves easily to quilling. The sheep, for example, features basic round coils in black or white paper representing the curly wool. Others, such as the whimsical hippo crafted from teardrop-shaped coils and the fringed hedgehog, require more creative techniques. The directions are easy to follow, and enlargeable templates provide the basic outline for arranging the quilled paper. VERDICT Getting started with quilling is easy and inexpensive, and Boden’s quilled menagerie will appeal to paper crafters with a taste for whimsy.Diane Boden first discovered quilling in 1982. Shortly after that she joined The Quilling Guild and went on to become a freelance craft tutor, running quilling classes and workshops all over the UK. Recently she and her husband bought J.J. Quilling Supplies, the successful online supplier of all things quilling previously owned by fellow quiller Janet Jenkins. Diane specialises in miniature quilling (working with strips 2mm wide or less) and is known for her meticulous, detailed work and imaginative designs. She is the author of Miniature Quilling (publ. August 2007) and Quilled Greetings Cards (publ. May 2005). Diane lives in Petts Wood, Kent.CN
