She is an associate professor at the University of Virginia, where she teaches courses on the diagnosis of and intervention for reading difficulties as well as English/Language Arts methods for early childhood, elementary, and special educators. She works with preservice and in-service teachers at the McGuffey Reading Center. She is coauthor of a number of books on literacy and has been published in many leading literacy and communication journals.
