This book explores the nature of innovation in Japan. It begins with an analysis of Japan’s current situation, focusing on the business environment, the economy and contemporary political conditions, and examines how the country is addressing its most pressing and substantial issues, as well as providing a compelling introduction to Japan’s innovation and an assessment of the country’s approach to technology, administration, education, and corporate and political change in an age of globalization and economic transformation.

KEN COATES is Adjunct Professor of Political Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. His research focuses on indigenous rights and the social impact of technology. Together with Carin Holroyd, he has published several other books on Japan.
CARIN HOLROYD is Senior Research Analyst at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, Canada, and is a specialist in Japanese business studies.
